Eleno Guzmán Gutiérrez (Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; 1978)
Scenic artist, producer, cultural manager, art promoter and international contemporary art scene curator.
He studied theater at Teatro Estudio (Guadalajara) and at Casa del Teatro (CDMX). He trained in professional contemporary dance through workshops and international residencies. In 2012 he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Artistic Education from the Higher School of Arts of Yucatán. He is a fellow of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) as a Theater Performer 02-03 and as a Contemporary Dance Performer 06-07.
From 1999 to 2006, he collaborated as performer and Artistic Director of Alicia Sánchez y Compañía / El Teatro de Movimiento; as well as in companies such as Teatro Línea de Sombra, Akhe Group (Russia) and Project In Situ (France) performing on the most important stages in Mexico, as well as in festivals in New York, Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, Russia, France , Belgium and China.
In 2006 he founded the cultural company MOVES which specializes in the production and management of artistic events, with a long history in the production of contemporary dance and theater. He has participated as a cultural manager in important fairs, festivals and stage markets such as: Mexico, Puerta de las Américas and ENARTES (Mexico); APAP, ISPA and American Dance Recon (USA); Focus Danse (France); Fira Tárrega, Salmon and Maps Festival (Spain); Objectifs Danse (Belgium), Performing Arts Meeting (Japan), Tanzmesse (Germany), KAMS (Korea), PALCO (Colombia); Transamerique Festival, Parcours Danse and CINARS (Canada).
From 2008 to 2016, he was in charge of the Performing Arts Subdirector of the San Luis Potosí Arts Center, carrying out important international collaborations and artistic training projects. In 2013, he was part of the coordination of the Diploma "Interactions - Bodies in Dialogue" / Choreographic Creation Platform of the Center for the Arts of San Agustín, Oaxaca.
He was part of the Artistic Direction of the 2014 Monterrey National Theater Festival and was invited as Curator at the 2014 National Dance Meeting at Guadalajara. From 2014 to 2017 he was a member of the curatorial committee of the Guadalajara International Festival of Contemporary Dance "Onésimo González". In 2016 he was Associate Curator of the Riviera Maya International Dance Festival in Playa del Carmen.
He participated in the selection committee of the 2016 Performing Arts open call of the Coordination of Theater System of the Secretariat of Culture of Mexico City; and in 2016, as the International Jury of the XX Madrid Choreographic Contest in Spain.
From 2016 to 2019 he was in charge of the Executive Direction of the Contemporary Dance Production Center (CEPRODAC) of INBAL / FONCA, producing important projects, among which OMPHALOS by Damien Jalet stands out, recently applauded in Europe.
He is member of the Curatorial Team of the Dance section of the digital platform Cultura UDG Streaming of the University of Guadalajara; part of the Advisory Team of ENARTES: Encounter of Performing Arts of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts; and General Director of the EPICENTRO project | International Platform for Contemporary Dance in collaboration with Conjunto Santander and Cultura UDG.
He was recently invited to the curatorial teams of the Downtown Mexico City Festival and the Tanzkongress 2022 in Mainz, Germany.
